THE FOUR  KEYS TO SUCCESSFUL DRY FLY FISHING

1.      DRIFT

Your fly must drift exactly as the natural insect. That means that there must be no drag. It must float freely with the current just as the insect you are trying to imitate.

2.      SIZE

Your fly must be very close to the same size as you are trying to imitate. It may be slightly smaller but never larger.

3.      SILHOUETTE

Your fly should have the same shape or silhouette on the water as the insect your are trying to imitate. Remember the fish is looking up at your fly.

4.      COLOR

You should try to come fairly close to the color of the insect to be imitated.

These are the four things the dry fly fisherman should attempt to accomplish. They are listed in order of importance.

Any fly that is even close to the natural insect that is cast with a good drift has a chance to catch the fish.

Add the proper silhouette and you have an even better chance.

Add the proper size and you have an even better chance.

With good drift, the proper size and silhouette along with a close color you will have a very good chance of catching the fish.

ABOVE ALL TAKE CARE OF YOUR FLY.  USE A GOOD FLOATANT AND A GOOD POWDER DESICCANT TO KEEP YOUR FLY LOOKING LIKE NEW.
